June 1926
Two men Engineer J.R. Slade and Bill Harrington die when a train runs off the tracks in Greenville. The train was carrying supplies up to Virginia from Spartanburg when the Train lost its holding and ran off the track. Due to the Wreck the lines will be closed for two to three weeks as repairs need to be made.

July 1926
New rule that Women must give their ages in order to vote may have caused the lack of women voters in the Greenville- Spartanburg area. Less the 75 percent of voters showed up to vote and twenty-three percent of which were women. Due to the new rule fewer women are showing up. It is believed that this may be a new feminist act but is unknown at this time. The Rule is subject to change.

November 1926
Meetings are taking place throughout the upstate on the idea of paving the highways. Columbia is to have paving started by December third of 1926. Greenville highways area is to be paved following the Colombia area highways. The South Carolina bank of Commerce is going out of business. Due to heavy withdraws from the bank in the past few weeks the bank can no longer support itself. The only hope for the bank is to combine with other banks in the area of Spartanburg and Greenville in hopes that it can then maintain itself. However if the heavy withdraws continue at this rate it will be closed by the end of the year.

February 1927
Gas in Greenville is cheaper than any other county due to rate war. Since the acquirement of gas has been limited the rates of gas have been sky rocketing in the area of Up State South Carolina. However in the Greenville area Gas has been cheaper then Spartanburg or Clemson. The Supply of gas should be better with the coming year however it does not look likely. Gas rates may stay the same.

June 1927
Sheriff Sam Willis is murdered by an unknown suspect. Sam was a very well known man in the Greenville area. A Black man has been arrested for the murder however there is no evidence that he had any connection to the case at all. The man came to the police house looking for a place to stay, when asked where he was from he answered Greenville. Due to his area of location and time of day the man was arrested for the murder of Sam Willis. This brought up a lot of controversy with the methods of the Greenville police department.

July 1927
New paved highway is opened for use this month. The highway has been under construction for nearly seven months and will soon be available for use. The highway will run between Spartanburg and Greenville. It should cut drive time by a third and will save the citizens much money on gas.

August 1927
Crops in the Upstate of South Carolina are down considerably since last year. Cotton and corn crops are failing due to a heavy infestation of high grass and lack of rain. Farmers have enough to supply however times will be tough. All that can be done is to make preparations for next year.

Wider roads are being built. Highways are no longer sufficient to support the heavy traffic in the Greenville and Spartanburg area. Roads are to be widened and paved.

Due to the raise in taxes and the lack of cotton production prices of cotton have gone up. As well the taxing on cotton has been raised.

The Greenville Dam had a near brake; the Dam is located near Table Rock Cove City. No investigation is going to be made as to why the Dam nearly broke however precautions are being taken.

Major storm hits the Spartanburg area killing 5 people. Major housing damage and flooding throughout area. Damage to highways and railroads may take a long time to fix. Also major crop damage, most crops are completely ruined.

Greenville is declared "the most sanitary city and county in America" by the United States Health Service.

A cyclone hits Six Mile that destroys houses and buildings. 9 die and dozens suffer various injuries.

The "little giant" of Alabama, Frank Howard came to Clemson as an Assistant Coach to Jess Neely.

Splendid new Wofford Athletic plan will be completed by Autumn. Gone are the old wooded stands that formerly faced the field. New steel concrete stadium will seat over 4000 people.

Buncombe Road is paved to provide "ribbon of newly-laid concrete over the mountains to bind Greenville County closely with the many resorts of Western North Carolina."

Newry Company store and a small United States Post office opens on Broadway Street near the courtenacy manufactoring company.

The South Carolina National Bank had a visit from robbers. It was a regulation hold up. The robbers were never caught and the money was never recovered.
